Air Spring Strut vs. Air Spring

Air suspension is a complete system that replaces traditional coil or leaf springs with components that use pressurised air to control ride height, comfort and handling. Within this system, the air spring is the core component.

• Air Spring Strut: An air spring strut is a  suspension module that integrates the air spring with a shock absorber/damper, mounting hardware, and electronic components (such as sensors or air fittings). It is delivered as a ready-to-install unit designed to replace the OE suspension assembly in one piece. This allows faster installation and ensures that both damping and load-bearing functions are renewed at the same time.

• Air Spring: The load-bearing element within the suspension. Constructed from rubber and textile-reinforced materials, it replaces conventional steel springs and carries the vehicle’s weight while isolating vibration and road noise. They are often replaced when the rubber wears, cracks, or loses airtightness.
